QUICKSTART
How to get started quickly

With the ever increasing number of collections, getting started is a common obstacle. Many just don't know how to begin.

This section presents a simple method for starting your first collection.

This section generally applies to both methods of colecting: COLLECTION CENTRIC & MODEL CENTIRC:

  1. Pick a collection or Model - JUST ONE!
  2. Visit a SCAN LINK LIST page and locate sites for the collection or model you have picked

IF YOU COULD NOT FIND ANY SITES FOR THESE COLLECTIONS THEN ...

Visit newsgroup alt.mag.playboy or alt.binaries.scanmaster and look for the scans you want

IF YOU STILL DON'T SEE ANY SCANS FOR YOUR COLLECTION OR MODEL THEN USE THE INSTRUCTIONS IN STEP 4 TO REQUEST SCANS

  3. On your computer, create a directory (folder) called SCANS.

Under the SCANS directory, create a directory called <collection> where <collection> is the name of the collection/model you have picked

  4. Copy the scans you downloaded into the new collection directory.
    ** MODEL-CENTRIC COLLECTORS SKIP TO STEP 5

  5. *COLLECTION-CENTRIC ONLY:
Download a collection manager. Use the "SOFTWARE" section of any scan link site.

    Install the collection manager software.

create a directory called CSV under the directory that you installed the collection manager software into.

Download the .CSV files foryour collection   from a .csv site. Unzip these files into the CSV directory that you created.

Generate a 'MISSING' report for your collection using THE  COLLECTION MANAGER

You now know the names of the files you need to look for to complete the series.

You will now be able to request scans by name in alt.mag.playboy or alt.binaries.scanmaster

TO REQUEST A SCAN:

create a new message. The message header should read
"REQ: <what-you-want>
There is no need to type anything into the message body

Don't request more than five scans at a time.

Check back in 24 hours.
Look for mesage headers that read:

"RE: REQ: <what-you-asked-for>
