UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED, ALL OF THESE COLLECTION MANGERS CAN BE OBTAINED AT SKIBONE'S LINK SITE http://www.skibone.com/host/babe/welcome.htm

WINDOWS 95/98
WIN9X is by far, the most common platform for collection manager software. Here are some of the best

POSTMASTER

COLVER:
Description:
A Classic ! This collection manager is great ! All of the features that have become standard in collection managers with an intuitive interface. It is FAST and does not carry any of the risky .DLL baggage that CHECKER and MTCM have become notorious for.

CHECKER:
Description:
The granddaddy of all scan collection managers. Keeps track of what you got and what you don't. It's small, fast and easy to use. No CRC checking though.

MTCM:
Description:
The MasterTech Collection Manager is another widely used scan collection manager. It provides all of the functionality of CHECKER, plus performs CRC validation on your files

COLLECTIT:
Description:
This 32 bit program tracks collections by model, collection, have's, missing's, imports CHECKER .CSV files, and provides an image viewing pane from within the collection listing (a great feature!). My only complaint is that it is a little difficult to figure out (no HELP files)

DRACO:
Description:
A 32 bit collection manager. Fast with all of the features collectors have come to expect from a collection manager.
Available at:
vsdec.shmu.sk/~majo/myo/scans/program/

SCANSORT:
Description:
A command line driven collection manager with some advanced features targeted at serious collectors dealing with many scans on a daily basis. If you download and trade many scan per day, this may well be the program for you.
Available at:
www.geocities.com/SouthBeach/
Pier/3193/scansort.html

SCANCHECK:
Description:
diffrent platforms available, like SunOs, Solaris, HP-UX and Linux (i386 and alpha)

WINDOWS 3.1
For all of you asking about Win31
collection managers. here it is.

JPGCVU:
Description:
for users of win3.1. It works the same as MTCM and Checker. It provides a list of all scans in a series, it also checks the CRC of the scans. (Newest Version - 0.11) download from SLICKSTER'S

WEB BROWSERS, MAIL & NEWSREADERS

MICROSOFT INTERNET EXPLORER V4.X:
Even those who HATE Microsoft have to admit that this is one hell of an Internet package. Both the browser and the Outlook express news/mail reader are both excellent. Forget desktop integration - turn it off and use the browser in the conventional fashion. In my opinion it is better all around than Netscape.

NETSCAPE COMMUNICATOR V4.X:
This package has it all. World class browser, e-mail & news reader. Everything you need to conduct your daily collecting activities.

AGENT:
One of the best free NG readers. Nice multi-threaded design. Essential for scan collecting. Freeware FreeAgent available through Ziff Davis ZD-NET

OTHER HELPFULL PROGRAMS

ACDSee32: (SHAREWARE)
One of the finest image viewers I've ever seen. Integrates with your Win95 shell to provide viewing and printing from right click context menu. This is a first rate program - Nicely done. Available through Ziff Davis ZD-NET

AUTOPOST: (SHAREWARE) Automatic NG posting program. This 32 bit program will post the entire contents of a selected directory to one or more of your favorite NGs. Essential for filling requests and trading. Available through Ziff Davis ZD-NET

THUMBSPLUS: (shareware)
The best 32bit thumbnail generator I've seen so far. creates contact sheets, HTML pages and is also a decent graphics viewer. If you want to keep thumbnails of your collections, then this is the program to get.  Available through Ziff Davis ZD-NET
